Swedish pavilion

Adam Wallenberg

Artist, philosophical practitioner, art educator and curator for the swedish pavillion

— As an artist and philosophical practitioner I always work in the intersection of the philosophical, spiritual, existential and political. I especially try to understand how we can create philosophical dialogue through art, and themes I am currently absorbed in are immateriality, meaning, dissonance, inter-subjectivity, ecology, destructivity, re-sacralization, immanence and democracy. It is therefore a great honor for me to be a part of the first Sacred arts festival in Senlis, where I hope from the bottom of my heart that people from all over the world can come together through art in spiritual dialogue. As the curator of the swedish pavillion, let me tell you that actually Sweden has a rich history of spirituality. We see examples in Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), Hilma af Klint (1862-1944) and Ivan Aguéli (1869-1917). Now I am proud of introducing to you the contemporary spiritual artists of Sweden.
These days I believe it is vital that we can re-discover and cultivate the power of spirituality and art. One among many reasons I think is because we need to start developing ”spiritual health” in our societies. We need a spiritual and cultural revolution. I invite all of you to my lecture on ”re-sacralization” and encourage you to bring the dialogue to Life during this festival. As Pablo Picasso once said:  ”Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
